The roots of DPA Architectural Group began in the winter of 1989. In early spring of 1990 the firm was incorporated as a profession corporation in the State of Colorado providing architectural services. Formally known as Douglas R Porterfield, Architect, the firm was renamed in the late 1990s to reflect the diversity and broad talent of the DPA staff and consultants team. Having completed projects throughout both eastern and western Colorado, DPA Architectural Group is known for design excellence,  quality construction documents, and outstanding construction administration services. DPA’s successful design practice is based in on a unique project delivery process that efficiently communicates vision, ideas, and solutions to meet client goals.

DPA Architectural Group founding principal in charge and president is Douglas Porterfield, a third generation architect. Doug holds a Bachelor of Architectural degree from Kansas State University and has attended Harvard University for continued professional development course and participated in Educations Facilities for the 21st Century symposium at Harvard University. He has been a guest speaker for numerous professional and civic group at local, state and international venues. Doug has been a guest speaker for the College of Architecture at the University of Mindanao located in Davao, Philippines and for the United Architects of the Philippines. 

Doug is personally involved in each phase of the design services of the projects at DPA Architectural Group.
